JUEGOS TRADICIONALES...mexicanos?

Sigue descubriendo e innovando.

Saludos.

Hemos perdido nuestro barco o todavia estamos a tiempo?

Startup Success Guide

Startup Success Guide - Tuesday, May 12, 2009 10:31 - 1 Comment

Little did I know…

Here I am toiling away, and I get this email PR:

Hello,

SpeedDate.com, the world’s first speed dating Web site, is the first major dating site to launch an Android application that offers portable, immediate and 24-hour access to the millions of singles engaged in online dating.  According to a poll by Yankelovich Partners, 81 percent of employed consumers feel the need to simplify their lives. By downloading the free application to your Android, users can leave their computer screens and be able to message dates throughout the day no matter their location.

image002

I’ve missed the boat. Again. While I could have been digitally connecting with missjanelle9, I’ve been busy writing The Web Startup Success Guide and StartupToDo.com. Both of which will be useful and significant, but fun? Ha! Not to mention SpeedDate.com raised in 2007 and 2008 a total of $8.6 million in VC funding, now there are over 160,000 speed dates a day and has supposedly millions of members online at any given time..

Seriously, the Mobile platform is taking off like a Saturn V rocket. Apple opened the App Store about 9 months ago and now there’s over 25,000 iPhone apps that have been downloaded one billion times. Google Android has a store too - http://www.android.com/market/ - and Eric Chu, the Google Mobile Platforms Program Manager, whom I interviewed for the book makes a strong case that Apple is by no means going to be the only breakout mobile platform in the next 18 months.

For so many years, writing software was hard work about serious stuff. New platforms, new technologies, new societal values means there’s lucrative software to be written above and beyond - and maybe beneath and under - all of the traditional software categories.

Something to think about on your next speed date.

Iphone... app store..

ahora android...

- New business ideas from around the world

Much like the characters played by Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman in The Bucket List, most people have a set of experiences they hope to have during their lifetime. We've already seen two websites aimed at helping consumers track and realize those dreams—Eons and 43things—and recently one of our spotters alerted us to Diddit, a similar but expanded version.

Diddit, which was recently launched into alpha by California-based Ludic Labs, allows users to discover new ideas for life experiences as well as track the ones they've already had. More than 300,000 experiences in 20 different interest areas are currently listed on the site—including movies to see, foods to eat, travel destinations and more—available for browsing and inspiration. To participate in the community, users sign up for free and list the experiences they've already had. They can then look through the site's list of other ideas and add the ones they like to their list of goals. As each one gets accomplished they check it off on their list, with the opportunity to network and share stories and photos along the way through Diddit, Facebook and Twitter. A video on Vimeo provides a short introduction to the site.

It's not yet clear what Diddit's business model will be, but we'd bet ad support will be involved. After all, whether it's baby boomers or twenty-somethings using them, sites like Diddit promise a highly directed way for advertisers to target specific groups of consumers with particular goals and interests in common. One to try out, partner with or localize for your neck of the activity-seeking woods...? (Related: A public incentive to stick to one's goals.)

Website: www.diddit.com

Nintendo DSi Anti-Piracy Measures Forced To Walk The Plank

Nintendo DSi Anti-Piracy Measures Forced To Walk The Plank

Just admit it. The only thing you love more than your Nintendo DS is playing pirated games on it…I mean, not playing pirated games on it…

Anyway, the point is, playing illegal copies of DS games was never really an issue thanks to crafty security workarounds (cough-R4 chip-cough) that turned the DS into a homebrewer's wonderland of unlawful dalliances. So when it came time for the DSi, Nintendo decided to fight piracy the same way it tried to with the Wii, firmware updating.

Unfortunately, as Kotaku reports, you just can’t keep a good pirate down, and the proof is Supercard’s new http://eng.supercard.sc/manual/dsonei/jsh.html%20" target="_blank">DSONEi flashcart. Basically, whenever Nintendo updates the DSi’s official firmware, Supercard will release a DSONEi firmware update of its own to keep the piracy train rolling. Sneaky. Sneaky.

It’s hard to say how long this cat and mouse system can go on, but chances are the DSONEi will continue to be the flashcart du jour for many a DSi homebrewer out there. At least until it's banned, and another product comes along to take its place.

Piensen algo.

http://www.onlive.com/

Democratizacion de las cosas? precios accesibles? Costos... diferentes? Modelos! diferentes..

mhmmmm.. escuchamos opiniones.

Saludos.

En definitivo ... a observar tendencias.

Download now or preview on posterous
2008_07_avalanche.pdf (3566 KB)

Why Do People Watch Scary Movies, Stay in Ice Hotels or Eat Bacon-Flavoured Ice-Cream? « PsyBlog

When people choose the ice hotel, the scary movie and the bacon ice-cream, they are choosing more than just the experience itself. They know the movie will frighten them, the icy bed will be uncomfortable and the bacon ice-cream will be weird, but there is a clear payoff in conceptual consumption. It's not just bragging rights, they also like the very idea of each of these things and they want to 'possess' the experience.

It's also about self-image. People want to see themselves, and be seen by others, as interesting people who choose a variety of different experiences for themselves. It's what Keinan and Kivetz refer to as ticking the boxes on our experiential CVs. Collecting experiences is really very similar to collecting bottle-tops, postcards or Furbies, but much cooler -- perhaps because the balance of consumption is weighted away from the physical and more towards the conceptual.

- John Carl Photography

James David

And the obligatory “behind the scenes” shot:

You can hear more of James David’s music here: myspace.com/jamesdavis3

Bien!

Sigamos descubriendo... sigamos innovando.
